Is This True?
Ok i saw some video of guildwars on youtube and there was this guy who had posted a comment and il quote> Bad things with guildwars is that you cant meet any players out in the world more than your partymembers, you cant jump, the world feels like its not alive. It doesnt feel like an mmo at all I think.>
Is What he said true? Please Tell Me its not |

You meet people in towns, and if you wanna meet people in explorable areas you do quests, missions with them.
"cant jump" seriously to all the wow people, that say gw is bad because you cant jump...thats pretty sad lol I suggest you get a trail key, and see for yourself |

I love the fact that the world is for you and your party members. I don't want the world where i meet people. People tend ks and or spawn camp bosses.

Its actually really good, get a trial key and try it. If you dont like it, thats fine, but I personally never regretted playing gw (+ 1 off fee is nice)

The two things that you mentioned - the instancing of explorables, and the lack of jumping - are two of GW's draws for a lot of people. Meeting people out in the world is nice...until you get spawn-camped, or people steal your kills/drops/bosses. As for jumping, I have no idea what kind of sophomoric, idiotic mind can possibly utter the thought, "This game sucks, I can't jump!" Hopping around like a kangaroo on crack both breaks that ever-desired immersion that people always seem to be on about, and is just annoying to boot. Towns are busy enough as is; if half the population was constantly bouncing up and down, it would make singling out a single person a nightmare, and it would look stupid as hell.

Guild Wars is an MMO like Diablo 2 is an MMO.
and for the sheltered, that means that economy is globalized within the game, and gameplay is not. Sure, you can play wiith up to 7 other people in an instance, but you don't get the same 'vast' sense that you get with a true MMO. |

Would you really want to meet idiots outside the towns as well as in.
People would be recruiting for guilds selling items Following the party drawing mobs to the party to wipe em out. Stealing drops attacking the party esp anyone they think is after a survivor title. Generally the game would become a total waste of time, anyone who would want this must imo fall into two groups. 1 someone who believes that people are mostly decent and the above would only happen on rare occasions. 2 someone who wants to do all of the above and more for fun I hear WOW is just the thing you are looking for, tell them I sent you. |

I'd say besides corpg its mmorpg too. I also think that the party system is awesome. Since it's basically only fighting in explorable areas. It would be different if it was more like exploring like in WoW. But if I've to fight, I prefer doing it with party members instead of random noobs.

(i know that's not what he meant xP) Last edited by KoKoS; Nov 08, 2008 at 12:59 PM // 12:59.. |

100% agreed. i stopped playing a few mmos and focused on gw for that reason. i love love love instances. and now that ive seen what its like to play a game thats instanced so i dont need to deal with kill stealers and mob campers, i dont think id ever play one that isnt. at least not without quietly whimpering to myself (we'll see how gw2 is. since i believe they said not all of it will be instanced)

WoW and GW are 2 different games and should not be compared to each other. I play both and like them each for different reasons. What I tell people is play both and see which one you you like better.

You have been victim of WoW propaganda.
No, you can't jump. No, you can't meet any other people outside cities. But when you get to the game, you notice how good solution that was. |

Ah I thought it was like wow, with everyone around, thats why its free xD but a game like wow but free would sure stand out , but hey i still think its better than wow, but just one thing> If We Cant see people outside in the world besides our party members, then....
1- Where are we gonna find party members? 2- At Least in Towns we can see everyone that is logged in to the game right? I Just Thought it was more vast, who cares bout noobs or kill stealers, certain MMOs have a thing that only the person who killed that monster can pick up the item for a certain time of course, and even if we have noobs bothering us or spamming, theres the whole fun of MMOS! Meeting tons of people in a single game! Talking, having fun etc! Ive always been search for a game like that but with good graphics and a famous one lol, I looked at GW i saw it had no fees, and i thought: Is this the perfect game? but then i found out that theres this *Catch* But............ I still wanna play it, i still wanna be part of it it looks awsomely well, and even if you only meet pople in towns, who cares? haha as long as there will be guild wras and pvp fights, everythings fine PS: But what about when theres certain big events, like.... New Year Celebration, wont that ever take place outside of towns? I sure will miss the: *Hey, im at......... Come meet me, then we can go to.......* but i see that will have to change xD Its just gonna be hard to get used to a game that doesnt feel like a whole nother world, but hey who knows? Guild Wars Might still give me that feeling, will see Stupid PS: When the creators of guild wars decided it wouldnt have any fees, and then they ahd to decide if either it would be a fully MMO like WoW or just like it is now, they didnt decide it NOT to be a fully MMO cause it wouldnt ahve fees right? xD or Di they just decided it this way since it would be a great experience for players? I mean they were kinda smart: Oh those players want a Full MMO with awsome graphics, awsome everything for free? Not a chance! lol, but seriously.. They didnt decide it would be this way cause it wouldnt have fees right? |
